The full-time Bariatric Scheduler/Receptionist role at Cabell Huntington Hospital is an essential position within the Bariatric Surgery Clinic, serving as the primary front office representative. This role is responsible for greeting patients, managing appointment schedules, and fulfilling administrative processes during office visits. The Bariatric Scheduler/Receptionist (BRS) must uphold a professional image while delivering courteous and efficient service. Exceptional customer service skills are required both over the phone and in person, along with sensitivity to the specific needs of bariatric patients. Handling all incoming calls personally or directing them to appropriate staff promptly is a critical part of the responsibilities, with the ability to prioritize calls based on urgency. The position involves maintaining patient and provider appointment schedules using various formats, including Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems. The BRS also collaborates closely with Marshall Health to ensure all patient data is current and compliant with billing and medical records standards.
This role is vital for meeting the unique scheduling criteria required for the bariatric department's accreditation standards, demanding strong organizational skills and attention to detail. The BRS must be capable of working both independently and as a team member, demonstrating problem-solving and problem-prevention capabilities. Multitasking while maintaining accuracy is necessary to succeed in this role, where developing effective organizational systems is key. Additional duties may be assigned to support the ongoing improvement of the bariatric program, emphasizing the dynamic and integral nature of this position within the hospital environment. Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- aHA BLS certification
- 1 to 2 years of position-related experience, 2 to 5 years preferred
- clerical and/or scheduling experience in a medical office
- familiarity with medical terminology
- experience in direct customer or patient care services

- aHA BLS certification
