Hotel del Coronado is an iconic and historic hotel located on Coronado Island, just minutes from Downtown San Diego. Established in 1888, it stands as one of the last surviving wooden Victorian beach resorts in the world. Recently undergoing a $400 million renovation and expansion, this 28-acre resort now features over 750 rooms, cottages, and villas. The property includes 65,000 square feet of banquet space and a diverse array of 10 food and beverage outlets such as four restaurants, two bars, a food truck, a marketplace, an ice cream shop, and in-room dining. The Barback position at Hotel del Coronado is a full-time role that requires availability during various shifts, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays. With a competitive pay rate of $21.28 per hour, this role is ideal for individuals passionate about hospitality and supporting an efficient and outstanding food and beverage service within a luxury resort setting.
As a Barback, you will play a vital role in assisting bartenders by preparing and servicing permanent and portable bars throughout the hotel. Your primary responsibilities will include retrieving and verifying stock orders, preparing garnishes and fruits, mixing and pouring juices, and maintaining supplies such as glassware, ice, paper products, and condiments. Additionally, you will be tasked with transporting beer kegs and performing routine maintenance on them, ensuring all bar areas, including beer lockers and refrigerators, remain clean and compliant with relevant codes.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in hospitality or bar service preferred
- Ability to work various shifts including weekdays, weekends and holidays
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Must be dependable and punctual
- Ability to lift heavy objects and remain on feet for long periods
- Must adhere to health and safety standards and regulations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a barback or similar role preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items
Job Duties
- Retrieve orders from storeroom and visually check stock to ensure order accuracy
- Prepare the bar by cutting, slicing and peeling perishable garnishes and fruits
- Mix and pour juices and store back-up supplies in prescribed containers
- Assist the bartender in stocking and maintaining the bar including paper products, straws, stirrers, condiments, glassware, ice and produce
- Transport taps and perform routine maintenance on beer kegs
- Maintain cleanliness of bar area, beer lockers, refrigerators and storage areas according to federal, state, local and company codes
