The Royal Sonesta Hotel, a distinguished property within the Sonesta portfolio, is currently seeking passionate and dedicated candidates for the position of Barback. This role is integral to the smooth functioning of the bar operations and ensures guests receive prompt, seamless service. The Barback's duties include assisting in maintaining cleanliness behind the bar, preparing garnishes, restocking beverages, napkins, straws, and glassware, and supporting bartenders and servers in their daily tasks. The position demands attentiveness to detail and excellent organizational skills to maintain an efficient bar environment. This role also functions as a food runner, facilitating the delivery of food orders from the kitchen to the bar and assisting in clearing tables.

The working hours typically run from 5 pm to 11:30 pm, with potential for later shifts depending on business needs. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to speak English
  • Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy
  • Must possess basic math skills
  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly and directly with guests using a positive, clear speaking voice
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around during the entire shift
  • Must have a valid TABC and Food Handler certification or be capable of obtaining these certifications upon hire

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a barback a plus
  • Must be able to speak English
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy
  • Possess basic knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits
  • Knowledge of standard drink recipes a plus
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around during the entire shift
  • Must possess basic math skills
  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly and directly with guests using a positive, clear speaking voice
  • Must have the ability to work a varied schedule that may include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must have a valid TABC and Food Handler certification or be capable of obtaining these certifications upon hire

Job Duties

  • Requisitioning and stocking liquor, beer, wine, juices, soft drinks, garnishments, condiments and glassware
  • Ensuring that bar and service areas are organized, clean and neat
  • Replenishing supplies in the bar area, including garnishes, liquor, beer, glassware, napkins, and other related items
  • Assisting bartenders throughout the shift with supplies, glassware, change, etc.
  • Assisting bartenders and servers as needed
  • Serve as a food runner
  • Assist in clearing table of dirty dishes
