Job Description
Still Austin Whiskey Co is a pioneering craft whiskey distillery based in Austin, Texas, known as the first true grain-to-glass distillery to open in the city since the end of Prohibition. It has rapidly grown to become one of the fastest-growing craft whiskey brands in the United States, reflecting a strong commitment to artisanal quality and innovative production methods. The company prides itself not only on its exceptional whiskey but also on delivering a unique and memorable guest experience through its expanding hospitality presence at the Still Austin Quarter (SAQ).
As a craft distillery and hospitality brand, Still Austin Whiskey Co focuses on creating an immersive and authentic atmosphere where each team member serves as a passionate brand ambassador. With the brand rapidly expanding, the importance of hospitality has become central to its business model. Guests visiting the distillery or the SAQ expect a high level of service and genuine engagement, making every interaction an opportunity to showcase the company’s dedication to quality and customer satisfaction.
The role of Barback at Still Austin Whiskey Co is integral to supporting the bar and service operations, ensuring product readiness, cleanliness, and organization at all times. However, this position is much more than just back-of-house support; barbacks are active, guest-facing team members who contribute significantly to the overall hospitality experience. By engaging with guests, proactively addressing service needs, and stepping in wherever assistance is required, barbacks help maintain the seamless flow of service that the brand strives for.
This position requires a confident and service-oriented individual who can thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining composure and professionalism. The Barback must take ownership of guest experiences, from restocking bars and running food to answering guest questions and fulfilling drink or food requests with accuracy and enthusiasm. Their ability to anticipate needs and act proactively enhances the guest experience and upholds the brand’s exceptional standards.
The Barback role also emphasizes a team approach to hospitality where collaboration, clear communication, and mutual support across departments are vital. By maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness and organization and adhering to all safety, compliance, and sanitation regulations, barbacks contribute to the smooth, safe, and welcoming environment that defines Still Austin Whiskey Co.
Overall, this role at Still Austin Whiskey Co offers an exciting opportunity for those passionate about hospitality and the craft spirits industry. It allows individuals to develop their food, beverage, and spirits knowledge while playing a key role in delivering elevated hospitality that goes beyond traditional job titles. This position is suited for those who take pride in providing memorable guest experiences, enjoy working in dynamic environments, and value teamwork and professional growth within a respected and innovative craft distillery setting.
