Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain ServSafe Alcohol Safety Certification and Food Handling certification
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and event days as scheduled
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must be at least 18 years old

Job Qualifications

  • Willingness to obtain ServSafe Alcohol Safety Certification and Food Handling Certification
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude and excellent customer service skills
  • Availability to work all UW-Madison Football games and a majority of events at the Kohl Center for the 2026-2027 season
  • Ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to stand and walk for long hours

Job Duties

  • Adheres to state, federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests
  • Sets up assigned bars
  • requisitions and stocks all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments, glassware, ice and produce
  • Maintains stock, prepares, cures and stores all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables to ensure product quality
  • Greets guests in a courteous, friendly manner
  • Assists bartenders in restocking tasks mid-event such as refilling ice, replacing the soda syrup when empty, restocking cups/napkins/straws
  • Checks guests at the bar for proper identification when necessary
  • Detects and acts upon guest inebriation as trained
  • demonstrates knowledge of liquor laws
  • Performs general cleaning tasks to adhere to health and safety standards
  • keeps work area clean and organized
  • Addresses bar trash bins when full
  • Sanitizes work surfaces
  • Ensures beverage machine is cleaned after high volume usage
  • Clears any empty beverages/plates/etc. from the tables and chairs in common area
  • Arranges bottles and glasses to maintain an attractive display in the bar area
  • Wash and sterilize stemware when applicable
  • Perform other duties as assigned such as assisting club supervisor with buffet needs, among other tasks
