American Social is a vibrant and contemporary dining establishment that embraces a social and lively atmosphere, inviting guests to enjoy delicious food and expertly crafted beverages in a welcoming environment. As a well-regarded restaurant, American Social prides itself on delivering exceptional customer experiences, combining great service with a modern and inviting ambiance. The establishment is dedicated to maintaining high standards of quality, both in its culinary offerings and in the professionalism of its team members. This dedication to excellence is embedded in the company culture, which centers on teamwork, respect, and a shared commitment to the core values that American Social stands for.
The role of Bartender at American Social presents an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about hospitality and beverage service. This position requires a team member who is enthusiastic, dependable, and eager to contribute to the overall dining experience by providing top-notch bar service. The Bartender is instrumental in setting the tone of the guest experience through engaging service, detailed attention to beverage preparation, and maintaining the cleanliness and order of the bar area. This is a minimum wage position, typically involving late-night shifts that may extend from closing time until as late as 4 AM, requiring flexibility and stamina.
The Bartender reports to the managerial staff and is expected to arrive prepared and punctual for every shift. This role involves a variety of responsibilities that extend beyond drink preparation, including bar setup and closing duties, inventory management, compliance with state and federal liquor laws, and adherence to health and safety regulations. Employees must maintain the image and appearance standards established by the restaurant, embody positive attitudes, and work cohesively with Front of House and Back of House teams to ensure smooth operations.
A core part of the responsibilities includes bar stock management, ensuring all liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, and bar tools are adequately supplied. Bartenders prepare bar items following recipes and proper portioning to fulfill guest orders efficiently while using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures to preserve product freshness and reduce waste. They must also perform cleaning and sanitization tasks, polish glassware, and maintain equipment in proper working order. In addition, Bartenders must be proficient in answering guests' questions regarding food and beverage, demonstrating a solid base of knowledge and commitment to alcohol awareness policies to prevent intoxication.
Bartenders at American Social work in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting where communication through radios and cooperation with colleagues are vital. Flexibility to assist in other departments, ability to perform under pressure, and strict adherence to safety, sanitation, and administrative procedures are essential qualities sought in candidates. Additionally, successful applicants must pass local legal age requirements for alcohol service and hold Alcohol Awareness Certification, with food handling certification considered an advantage. This role demands physical stamina, including the ability to stand for long periods, lift items, and work in cold environments when needed.
Overall, this position is ideal for individuals eager to build a career in hospitality, offering a dynamic work environment paired with valuable skills development and the chance to be part of a respected culinary brand focused on community and social enjoyment.
