One of Aparium's flagship establishments is Firn at Populus, located above Seattle's historic Pioneer Square. Firn features sprawling skyline views and a creative, ingredient-focused cocktail menu inspired by the water cycle. This open-air venue offers a vibrant atmosphere perfect for socializing, with a food menu designed to complement the distinctive cocktails. Together, Firn embodies Aparium's ideals of place and character, providing a memorable dining and drinking experience.
The role of Barback at Aparium Hospitality Services, specifically at Firn, is pivotal in supporting the bar operations under the Food and Beverage Leadership team. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about guest service and eager to work in a team-oriented environment. As a Barback, you will assist in maintaining an organized, efficient bar experience by preparing garnishes, stocking supplies, cleaning the bar, and backing up the bar service team. The job requires a strong understanding of service techniques, excellent time management skills, and the ability to work with respect for guests, equipment, and fellow staff.
This role is non-exempt and reports directly to the Restaurant Manager. It offers a competitive hourly wage of $21.30 plus tips, alongside comprehensive benefits including paid vacation, medical and dental insurance, vision and pet insurance, and a 401(k) retirement plan with employer match. The company also provides paid time off for volunteering, reflecting a culture that values community engagement.
Barbacks at Aparium are expected to uphold the company’s service principles focused on collaboration, hospitality, and respect. Daily responsibilities involve maintaining cleanliness, participating in team meetings, ensuring compliance with alcoholic beverage laws, and sharing beverage knowledge with guests to enhance their experience. Candidates will need to stay informed about the beverage menu, including basic beer, wine, spirits, and cocktail terms, and assist with any operational challenges by communicating with management.
The position demands physical stamina, including the ability to stand or walk most of the shift and lift items up to 100 pounds with assistance. Candidates must be able to obtain necessary permits such as the Alcohol Server Permit and Food Handler Permit shortly after hire and demonstrate flexibility with scheduling, including availability on mornings, weekends, and holidays. Fluency in English, both verbal and written, is required.
By joining Aparium Hospitality Services as a Barback, candidates become part of a forward-thinking hospitality group that values diversity, personal growth, and exceptional service. The opportunity to work at Firn provides exposure to a creative culinary environment that celebrates community and craftsmanship in every detail from cocktails to hospitality. Aparium invites individuals who share their passion for people, place, and culture to apply and grow their careers in this dynamic role.
