Role Description
The Bar Manager position at The Tap is uniquely designed for energetic and hands-on leaders who thrive in busy, high-volume bar settings. This role stands out because it requires the individual to lead the bar team while actively participating in bartending. Working primarily during peak hours, the Bar Manager will bartend and then oversee the close of operations five nights a week, owning the bar’s guest experience from start to finish. Shifts typically run from 5:00 pm with bartending during high-volume periods and transitioning to managing the bar close at around midnight on weekdays and 2 am on weekends.
The ideal candidate will have at least three years of bar leadership or high-volume bartending experience and a deep knowledge of cocktails, beer, and spirits. They are expected to lead by example, demonstrating strong team leadership, clear communication, and a hands-on approach to managing the bar’s operations. Responsibilities include building and maintaining a high-energy, creative bar program, hiring and developing staff, managing inventory and cost controls, and ensuring regulatory compliance and cleanliness standards. The Bar Manager plays a crucial role in fostering a welcoming atmosphere where regular patrons feel at home and new guests enjoy memorable service. Job Requirements
- At least a high school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of relevant bar management or bartending experience
- Ability to work late nights and flexible hours including weekends
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Knowledge of bar safety and compliance standards
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle bar equipment
- Reliable transportation to and from work
Job Qualifications
