Job Description
QED Hospitality is a nationally recognized restaurant operations management group specializing in running food and beverage operations within boutique hotels and exclusive sites across the country. Known for its tailored, regionally inspired restaurant concepts, the company prioritizes unique culinary experiences that reflect local traditions and tastes rather than generic or cookie-cutter offerings. The group brings deep operational expertise to the table, focusing on delivering high service standards and developing bespoke dining environments that resonate with guests and complement the character of each hotel and its location. With an emphasis on quality, authenticity, and market responsiveness, QED Hospitality has established itself as a leader in the hospitality sector, celebrated for its commitment to excellence and innovation.
The position of Bar Manager is a vital leadership role within QED Hospitality’s restaurant operations. This role entails comprehensive oversight of daily bar operations to ensure exceptional guest satisfaction, efficient team management, and seamless production of high-quality cocktails. The Bar Manager will be responsible for upholding the company’s standards of service and creating memorable experiences within the bar spaces of various venues. This is achieved through strategic hiring, thorough training programs, and ongoing development of the bar team. Additionally, the Bar Manager plays an essential role in educating all staff on the beverage program to maintain a consistent and knowledgeable customer service approach.
The Bar Manager’s core responsibilities include supervising The Kitchen Table bar operations with a focus on maximizing profitability, minimizing legal liabilities, and ensuring compliance with alcoholic beverage regulations. The role also involves contributing to research and development for seasonal beverage menus and coordinating custom bar menus and service execution for banquets and special events. Collaboration with the Director of Food and Beverage and Executive Chef is crucial to plan liquor activations and coordinate resources necessary for daily operations. Addressing customer complaints related to beverage or food quality and maintaining strict sanitary practices are also key duties.
From an administrative perspective, the Bar Manager manages labor costs relative to sales, implements cost control measures, and monitors purchasing and inventory processes to minimize waste and deadstock. Monthly beverage inventories must be accurately conducted and reported in coordination with the sommelier, while beverage education and training initiatives are organized regularly in partnership with senior management. Scheduling and staffing responsibilities include overseeing bartender schedules, conducting team meetings, and handling staffing adjustments to accommodate business volumes. The role demands strong organizational, communication, and computer skills, alongside significant experience in food and beverage management, preferably with a background in high-volume establishments and craft cocktail programs.
Physical demands of the role include the ability to maneuver throughout the restaurant, lift up to 50 pounds, and operate restaurant and office equipment with dexterity and coordination. The Bar Manager must be capable of working effectively in a fast-paced environment and managing stressful situations while maintaining responsiveness to both visual and auditory signals. This position is ideal for a seasoned hospitality professional who is passionate about delivering outstanding bar experiences and is committed to fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
