The Barback position involves various responsibilities that are critical to the bar’s day-to-day success. This includes obtaining necessary certifications such as the TABC Certification and Food Handler’s Permit, which ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The role requires basic computer skills, primarily to manage the online scheduling system effectively. The Barback must strictly adhere to the company’s uniform policy, wearing the proper attire throughout the entire shift to maintain a professional appearance and ensure consistency with the establishment’s brand image.

The position starts with opening duties that set the tone for the shift, such as obtaining ice, preparing fruit trays, restocking the bar with beverages and glassware, checking and changing keg beer as needed, and thoroughly cleaning the bar area before opening. During the shift, the Barback supports bartenders by collecting empty glasses, washing glassware, wiping down the bar constantly, restocking supplies, and performing other tasks that aid in providing a seamless service experience. Closing duties include washing and restocking glassware and liquor, cleaning the bar and beer cooler, properly disposing of trash and towels, and organizing the workspace to prepare for the next day.
