We are currently seeking a customer-focused Bar Back to join our vibrant team. This role is essential in maintaining the smooth operation of our coffee shop by preparing coffee drinks and food while ensuring customers feel welcomed and valued. The Bar Back will be responsible for supporting the baristas and other staff by managing various duties that contribute to a seamless and continued flow of service. The ideal candidate is organized, calm, and friendly, with a strong commitment to offering service that goes above and beyond to create exceptional customer experiences. This position requires an individual who understands the importance of operational efficiency and cleanliness, as well as customer service excellence. Key responsibilities include greeting customers warmly, taking accurate food and drink orders, and demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of the coffee preparation process, including specialty drinks. The Bar Back will also be tasked with efficiently entering orders into the POS system, maintaining clean workstations, and resetting counters and tables after customers leave. These duties combined help to ensure that each guest’s visit is pleasant and inviting.

Candidates should have a background or interest in food service regulations and possess certifications such as ServeSafe or Food Handler’s Certification, or be willing to obtain them. Strong communication skills, conflict resolution abilities, and the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment are vital to success in this role. Additionally, the ability to stand for long periods and use quick thinking to resolve guest issues in alignment with brand standards is important.

Job Duties

  • Greet all customers with a friendly smile
  • provide friendly, efficient, and personal service to each customer
  • take food and drink orders
  • understand the food and beverage menu in order to provide the best possible description and execution of menu items to your guests
  • demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the coffee preparation process, including specialty drinks
  • accurately and efficiently enter orders into POS system
  • clear and reset counters and tables at the conclusion of each guest visit
  • maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the day, practicing clean-as-you-go procedures
