Job Description

Kiawah Island Golf Resort, located near Charleston, South Carolina, is a premier destination known for luxury golf and beach vacations. With five-star accommodations, world-class amenities, and some of the most respected golf courses in the nation, the resort offers an unparalleled guest experience distinguished by genuine southern hospitality. The resort is dedicated to hiring the best talent to continue its mission of being recognized as the best golf and tennis resort on the East Coast. Employees at Kiawah Island Golf Resort are valued for their skills and commitment to delivering caring and gracious service. The resort fosters a supportive work environment with opportunities for career development and a strong focus on employee well-being.

The Banquet Manager in Training role at Kiawah Island Golf Resort is a unique opportunity designed for high-potential individuals seeking a leadership career path in banquet operations. This role offers a structured training track that prepares candidates for long-term advancement by providing hands-on leadership experience across all phases of the event lifecycle. Candidates will gain expertise from event planning and Banquet Event Order (BEO) development through to floor leadership, labor oversight, service charge management, and comprehensive post-event financial review. This working leadership role requires active participation in leading banquet events, allowing trainees to develop crucial skills in event management and financial stewardship within a hospitality setting.

The Manager in Training will actively lead events as the acting Banquet Captain, managing service standards and coordinating with culinary, sales, and audiovisual teams in real-time. Responsibilities include directing setup, resets, and breakdowns of event spaces, ensuring timing and flow meet guest satisfaction, and assisting with labor planning and controls. In addition, trainees will monitor service charge allocations and payroll accuracy, support large-scale multi-room programs and buyouts, and coach banquet staff to maintain high service standards. A key component of this role is involvement in planning meetings with clients and sales teams, reviewing contracts, confirming guarantees, and handling event close-outs including billing reconciliation.

Trainees will become proficient in using event management software, point of sale (POS) and reporting systems, labor management tools, and service charge tracking systems. The candidate will also develop financial analysis skills relevant to post-event performance evaluation. Advancement to the role of Banquet Manager depends on demonstrated leadership ability, financial understanding, and proficiency with operational systems.

The position requires the ability to work on-site and fulfill physical demands such as standing for entire shifts, lifting and carrying trays, and effective communication with guests and team members. While the specific pay rate is determined during the hiring process, Kiawah Island Golf Resort offers a comprehensive benefits package and career development opportunities that reflect its commitment to employee growth and satisfaction.

Joining Kiawah Island Golf Resort means becoming part of a team that values excellence, offers exclusive employee benefits including discounts on resort amenities, employee meal programs, training events, wellness fairs, and robust insurance and retirement plans. This is an exceptional opportunity to build a career in banquet and event management at a distinguished luxury resort set in a beautiful coastal environment. The resort encourages motivated professionals who thrive in a collaborative, guest-focused atmosphere to apply and work in paradise.
