Job Description
The hiring establishment is a professional hotel known for hosting high-quality events and banquets with a strong emphasis on exceptional guest service and operational excellence. As a vibrant part of the hospitality industry, this hotel prides itself on delivering seamless event experiences that not only meet but exceed client expectations. The hotel's facilities include various function spaces equipped to handle diverse event types, from corporate meetings to private celebrations, always aiming to impress guests with attention to detail, superior service, and an inviting atmosphere. The hotel employs a team-oriented approach, ensuring collaboration among departments to maintain top standards and foster a welcoming environment for guests and staff alike. This position is a full-time role compensated at $16.90 per hour plus tips or additional compensation, reflecting the importance of a skilled and experienced team to uphold the hotel's reputation for excellence in event management.
The role of Banquet Captain is critical in bridging the gap between management and event service teams, directly influencing the smooth operation of banquets and special events. The Banquet Captain provides hands-on leadership and guidance to event staff during all phases of an event, including setup, execution, and breakdown. This position demands a proactive leader capable of supervising and mentoring a team, ensuring tasks are completed with precision and timeliness, and that high standards of service and cleanliness are consistently maintained. Key responsibilities revolve around staff supervision and training, where the Banquet Captain assigns duties, communicates event expectations clearly, and fosters a culture of service excellence and efficiency. They must maintain an in-depth knowledge of all hotel function spaces, equipment usage, and the variety of room setup styles to guarantee accuracy and consistency across events.
During events, the Banquet Captain oversees setup, verifies alignment with client and hotel standards, and ensures service areas are fully prepared before guest arrival. Coordination with management for event scheduling and planning is also part of the role, ensuring logistics and staffing are optimized to meet event demands. Safety and cleanliness are paramount, with the Banquet Captain ensuring adherence to food safety, sanitation, health guidelines (including TIPS and OSHA), and the enforcement of PPE usage among the team. Part of their responsibility includes upholding exceptional guest experiences by ensuring courteous and efficient service, handling guest concerns professionally, and guaranteeing responsible alcohol service in compliance with laws and company policies. From an operational perspective, the Banquet Captain leads pre-function meetings to clarify event details, monitors staff presentation and performance, and assists with post-event breakdown and storage, thereby ensuring the overall operational excellence of banquet events. This comprehensive role is essential to the hotel's event success, guest satisfaction, and ongoing business growth.
