The Banquet Captain role at Valor Hospitality is a crucial position centered on supervising banquet staff to ensure seamless execution of assigned functions, room setups, and service operations. Reporting to the Catering Service Manager and Banquet Manager, the Banquet Captain is responsible for overseeing the entire banquet event from setup through service to breakdown in a safe and organized manner. Key duties include verifying Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) for accuracy, ensuring adherence to room setup specifications, maintaining cleanliness of public areas, and facilitating communication with group representatives and the culinary team to deliver flawless event service.
This role demands keen attention to detail, proactive management of the banquet team, and a dedication to guest satisfaction. The Banquet Captain meticulously compiles charges, manages documentation such as consumption sheets and reports, and ensures equipment is properly stored post-event. In addition, the Captain coordinates staffing assignments, enforces attendance protocols, and prepares banquet areas prior to guest arrival. - Experience or familiarity with banquet or event service operations preferred
Job Duties
- Check server's and house person's BEOs to ensure all information is accurate
- Check room set-up to confirm BEO directions are fully followed and public areas are neat and clean
- Contact and communicate with group representatives, offering assistance as needed
- Ensure food and beverage items are correctly presented and served following standards and special event instructions
- Maintain constant communication between Culinary Department Representative and Banquet Team during events, addressing any schedule changes or issues
- Compile event charges accurately and present checks for client signature
- Complete all necessary paperwork including Captain's Consumption Sheets and Reports, and distribute copies appropriately
- Oversee equipment return and ensure banquet areas are clean and orderly post-event
- Assign duties to banquet staff and supporting captains, managing attendance and sign-in sheets
- Prepare banquet areas thoroughly before guest arrival
- Recap all banquet checks daily and forward to Night Audit
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or managers
