Job Requirements

  • culinary degree or equivalent experience
  • minimum of 3 years experience in banquet or large-scale kitchen operations
  • strong leadership and organizational abilities
  • excellent understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations
  • ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • team player with excellent communication skills
  • passion for culinary excellence and innovation

Job Qualifications

  • proven experience as a sous chef or similar role in banquet kitchen operations
  • culinary degree from an accredited institution preferred
  • strong leadership and team management skills
  • excellent knowledge of food preparation and presentation techniques
  • familiarity with health regulations and safety standards in a professional kitchen
  • ability to work under pressure and manage multiple events simultaneously
  • good communication and interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • lead banquet kitchen operations to deliver high-quality food for events
  • support the culinary team in organizing and executing large-scale banquets and private dining
  • develop and mentor junior chefs and culinary staff
  • collaborate closely with hotel event coordinators and management to ensure smooth service delivery
  • maintain consistency and quality across all banquet dishes
  • stay informed on current Washington DC food trends to innovate banquet menus
  • manage kitchen inventory and ensure compliance with health and safety standards
