Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 to 3 years of banquet service experience
  • hotel or resort banquet experience preferred
  • must be at least 21 years old
  • Safe Server Alcohol and Food certification required
  • ability to stand and move for up to 4 hours
  • capable of lifting up to 45 lbs
  • able to push and pull carts/equipment weighing up to 250 lbs
  • good communication skills
  • ability to speak, read, write, and understand workplace language
  • basic computer proficiency
  • attention to detail
  • ability to work independently
  • compliance with grooming and attendance standards
  • ability to follow safety and security policies
  • able to work varying schedules including training sessions
  • physical stamina to work in temperature extremes

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 to 3 years of high-volume banquet service experience
  • experience in hotel or resort banquet service preferred
  • must be at least 21 years old to serve alcohol
  • Safe Server Alcohol and Food certification
  • good verbal, written, and electronic communication skills
  • excellent leadership skills and customer relations abilities
  • detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • basic computer skills including Windows OS, MS Office, PMS, and POS knowledge
  • basic computational ability
  • ability to analyze user needs and provide appropriate tools
  • adept at conflict resolution and handling customer issues with patience and diplomacy
  • knowledge of table and bar service
  • knowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware
  • ability to describe menu items and preparation methods

Job Duties

  • Clean and set up meeting rooms and banquet functions per specifications
  • vacuum floors, clean walls, windows, and mirrors
  • properly store meeting room supplies such as linen, pads, pens/pencils, and candy
  • service every meeting room by emptying trash, removing dirty plates, cups, linens, and glasses, and replacing as necessary
  • straighten all chairs and replenish water as specified
  • clear tables, trays, and return equipment to respective areas
  • serve guests food and drinks during events
  • answer questions related to buffet or menu
  • check all china, glassware, silverware, and linen needed for the event
  • be aware of upcoming groups and conventions
  • read assigned banquet menus and clarify any unclear items
  • ensure food is served at appropriate temperatures and entrées are properly placed
  • handle all equipment properly and ensure storage after use
  • provide professional and courteous guest assistance
  • maintain cleanliness and organization in service corridors and storage areas
  • locate and deliver convention materials upon customer requests
  • participate in deep cleaning of the outlet
  • ensure service corridor safety by proper equipment transport
  • attend to spills and breakage promptly and safely
  • perform additional related duties including organization, cleaning, and inventory as assigned by management
