Job Requirements

  • Previous banquet experience required
  • ability to work an on call schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • must be at least 18 years old
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • ability to lift moderate weights
  • reliable transportation to the University of Texas at Austin location
  • willingness to adhere to company dress code and grooming standards

  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends
  • ability to handle cash transactions accurately
  • basic understanding of dietary restrictions and allergen information

Job Duties

  • Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room
  • take food and beverage orders efficiently following established steps of service
  • deliver food and beverages promptly and professionally
  • maintain safe food handling and sanitation standards
  • assist guests with any additional needs or requests
  • demonstrate thorough knowledge of menu items and ingredients
  • advise guests on food and drink combinations
  • accommodate reasonable guest requests and dietary preferences
  • communicate effectively with kitchen and back-of-house staff
  • collect tickets and handle cash transactions properly
  • uphold a clean, safe, and neat dining environment
  • address guest complaints and relay information to supervisor
  • ensure dining room setup and cleanliness before and after service
  • operate equipment such as fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells, and coffee machines
  • collaborate with staff from other departments during special events
  • perform additional duties as assigned
