This role is for a Banquet Food Server, a position vital to the guest experience at events hosted in the Peabody Hotel. As a Banquet Food Server, this individual will be responsible for ensuring prompt, courteous, and efficient service to banquet guests, handling all aspects of food and beverage delivery in accordance with event specifications and hotel standards. The position requires a thorough knowledge of food service protocols, beverage laws, and guest relations to promote a welcoming and professional atmosphere. Servers work under the supervision of the Director of Banquets, Banquet Manager, or Banquet Captain and are expected to exhibit attentiveness, professionalism, and a commitment to service excellence. The role demands physical stamina, as servers must stand and walk for extended periods, carry trays and supplies, and maintain the setup and cleanliness of the assigned service stations. Banquet Food Servers at the Peabody undergo TIPS Training within their first 60 days of employment to ensure responsible alcohol service and are expected to uphold the hotel's grooming standards and service excellence. This is a dynamic role that involves interaction with guests, coordination with multiple hotel departments, and the ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality in accordance with hotel policies. - fluency in a foreign language preferably Spanish
- certification in alcoholic awareness program
- ability to suggestively sell
- previous guest relations training
Job Duties
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards
- maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment
- anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests
- maintain positive guest relations at all times
- be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately
- resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction
- monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas
- maintain complete knowledge of service requirements for assigned function including pre-function side work, menu selections, wines/champagne details, prices, station assignment, group details, service schedule, special requests, order of service, traffic flow, and VIPs
- maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations
- complete pre-function side work including quality checks, supply transport, table setups, and beverage preparations
- greet guests and assist with seating
- take and record guests' alcoholic beverage orders using suggestive selling techniques
- serve food and beverages according to function requirements
- clear courses following procedures
- remove tabletop items and clean function room as designated
- set up, monitor and breakdown coffee breaks, receptions and buffet tables
- complete closing duties such as breakdown, cleaning, restocking, linen removal, condiment stocking and securing storage areas
- adhere to payment, cash handling and credit policies
- be certified in TIPS Training within 60 days of employment
- follow maintenance program and cleaning schedule
- assist on other functions and with banquet room setups
- document maintenance needs
