The Banquet Food Server at the Peabody Hotel is an integral team member responsible for delivering superior guest service during various banquet functions. Reporting to the Director of Banquets, Banquet Manager, or Banquet Captain, the Food Server plays a critical role in the preparation, service, and cleanup of banquet events. This role demands the ability to work under varying conditions including different temperature environments, noise levels, and both indoor and outdoor settings. As a key contact point, the Food Server interacts with banquet guests and works in close collaboration with colleagues from departments such as Beverage, Kitchen, Stewarding, Catering, and Engineering. The position requires keen attention to detail, efficient organizational skills, and a strong commitment to upholding the Peabody’s Service Excellence standards. Responsibilities include managing side work, anticipating guest needs, handling food and beverage service according to protocol, and maintaining cleanliness and organization within assigned areas. Compliance with state liquor laws, including responsible alcohol service and refusal to minors or intoxicated individuals, is a critical aspect of the job. Job Requirements
- Minimum age of 18 years
- completion of TIPS training within 60 days of employment
- fluency in English
- ability to communicate legibly
- ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods
- ability to lift, carry and store approximately 30 pounds overhead
- ability to bend, squat and reach frequently
- ability to lift and carry server trays weighing approximately 50 pounds
- ability to push and/or pull carts weighing approximately 200 pounds
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 18 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages
- TIPS training certification within 60 days of employment

Job Duties
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards
- maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment
- anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day
- maintain positive guest relations at all times
- be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities in order to respond to guest inquiries accurately
- resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction
- monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas
- maintain complete knowledge of service requirements for assigned function including pre-function side work, detailed menu selections and presentation, wine/champagne characteristics, prices for bar selections, station assignment and table set-up, group name/type of function/attendance, hours of service, special requests and VIPs
- strictly abide by state liquor regulations
- complete pre-function side work including quality and amount check of stock and supplies, transport supplies to service area, set linen/skirting, set tables, set up condiments and beverages, ensure sufficient silverware, prepare cold food as assigned, check cleanliness of stations
- greet guests and assist with seating
- take and record beverage orders using suggestive selling techniques
- serve alcoholic beverages, open and serve wine/champagne
- make coffee
- serve all food and non-alcoholic beverages according to function requirements
- clear courses
- remove tabletop items and equipment
- set up, monitor and breakdown coffee breaks, receptions and buffet tables
- complete closing side duties including breakdown, cleaning, restocking, storing reusable goods, removing dirty linens, stocking condiments, and securing storage areas
- adhere to payment, cash handling and credit policies
- certify in TIPS training within 60 days of employment
