The Banquet Server role at Oak Hill Country Club is a vital position within the Food & Beverage department that focuses on delivering an exceptional banquet experience for members and their guests. Reporting to the Senior Banquet Manager, Banquet Captain, and Catering team, the Banner Server carries out a range of service duties during various banquet functions, which may range from intimate meetings and dinners to large-scale weddings and gala events. This role demands a high level of attentiveness, professionalism, and adaptability to consistently achieve service standards while providing personalized member care.

The Banquet Server is tasked with presenting food and beverages in an organized, courteous, and efficient manner while engaging positively with guests to encourage a welcoming atmosphere. The role requires collaboration with other staff members, including restaurant personnel and bartenders, to ensure seamless event execution. Evening, weekend, holiday, and split shifts are typical, with hours fluctuating between 40 to 60 hours weekly, increasing during event-heavy periods. The position also calls for attending pre-function meetings to fully understand the particulars of each event, including menus, timelines, and member expectations.

Beyond serving duties, the Banquet Server is expected to set up banquet rooms in accordance with the Manager's instructions, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and organization in all service areas. This role requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and the capacity to address and solve guest concerns promptly and diplomatically. Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • valid driver's license
  • able to meet and perform the physical requirements of the job
  • frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping, and pulling
  • must be able to lift 75 pounds
  • must have a reliable form of transportation to and from work
  • must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
  • able to work flexible shifts that include early mornings, nights, weekends, holidays, split shifts, and extended shifts
  • willing and able to work 40-60 hours per week, with additional hours during event weeks

Job Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent education required
  • previous waitress, waiter or banquet server experience preferred
  • country club experience strongly preferred
  • food safety certification
  • alcoholic beverage certification
  • exceptional communication abilities when interacting with associates, guests, clients and internal departments to build relationships
  • ability to work flexible shifts including early mornings, nights, weekends, holidays, split shifts, and extended shifts

Job Duties

  • Serve members and/or guests during banquet functions to ensure positive guest experiences
  • exceptional customer service skills
  • excellent oral communication and listening skills
  • setup of banquet rooms as requested by the Manager/BEO to include glassware, silverware, linen, etc
  • attend pre-function meetings prior to event kickoff in order to learn function particulars, including member and guest expectations, menu, and timeline
  • greet and welcome guests and respond to their requests in a courteous and friendly manner
  • serve food and beverage in the appropriate order to ensure consistency throughout the banquet
  • carry plates, glassware and food on trays when serving guests and clearing
  • be able to independently solve problems of host and guests during events
  • after banquet events, breakdown rooms, clean equipment and store in appropriate space, clean and organize banquet service areas and storage spaces
  • work alongside, and in conjunction with, the restaurant staff and bartenders for club events
  • maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness
  • consistently perform tasks to ensure all event components are setup and executed on time
  • consistently perform tasks with little direct supervision
  • attend all required meetings and trainings
  • comply with Oak Hill Country Club Food and Beverage Vision and Values
  • carry out bylaws and policies set by the Board of Directors
  • any and all other duties as assigned by management
