The On-Call/Part-Time Event (Banquet) Server role at Renaissance Milwaukee West is an essential position within the Events Team, directly impacting the overall guest experience during events hosted at the hotel. The Event Server is responsible for greeting and serving guests by following established food and beverage service guidelines. The role includes preparing event spaces by reading event orders and assisting with setup, maintaining clean and well-stocked stations, and ensuring proper clearing and breakdown procedures are followed. Additionally, servers will learn and share knowledge about menu items and preparation methods, enhancing the guest's dining experience. The position requires flexibility, including availability on nights, weekends, and specifically Saturday afternoons and evenings, to accommodate event schedules.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and Saturdays
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to follow safety and money-handling procedures
  • Ability to perform assigned side tasks such as sorting linens and cleaning equipment
  • Ability to work safely and courteously
  • Must report to work on time and in full uniform

Job Qualifications

  • Banquet/event serving experience preferred
  • Flexible availability including nights and weekends
  • Must have availability for Saturday afternoons and evenings
  • Ability to learn menu items and preparation methods

Job Duties

  • Greet and serve guests attending events being hosted at the hotel, following guidelines and procedures regarding the service of food and beverage
  • Proactively serve and engage with guests and anticipate guests needs
  • Properly clean and fill table complements (salt and pepper, sugar, bread baskets, etc.)
  • Read event orders and assist in completing a setup, as needed
  • Work safely and courteously at all times
  • Learn the menu for each function served and be able to knowledgeably explain the major ingredients and preparation methods for each item to be served
  • Maintain neat and clean station
  • Constantly patrol assigned station, refilling beverages, removing service items and condiments per established policies and procedures
