Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • previous banquet server experience preferred
  • ability to follow directions and get along well with others
  • must be TIPS, CARE or equivalent certified or willing to obtain certification by the first day on the job

Job Duties

  • Review and understand banquet event order
  • complete setup according to banquet event order
  • set tables using clean and pressed linen and spotless silverware, china, and glassware
  • explain menu items and preparation methods to guests
  • stand in assigned station 15 minutes prior to function
  • respond to guests' requests and notify supervisor if necessary
  • keep station neat and clean
  • patrol assigned station refilling drinks and removing used items
  • ensure guests have everything they need
  • use proper clearing and tray breakdown procedures
  • return reusable table complements for cleaning
  • assist in setting up and breaking down buffet and special food service tables
  • set up, tend, and break down banquet bars
  • follow cash and guest check procedures
  • return excess food to kitchen following sanitation guidelines
  • complete assigned side work
  • assist in keeping banquet back hall and storage areas organized
  • apply all procedures of proper service
  • assist co-workers as needed
  • remain informed about hotel events and guest needs
  • maintain responsible alcohol service certification
  • mix and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks during banquets
  • set up, service, and clean coffee break areas
  • present breaks attractively and timely
  • secure beverage coolers and lockable storage at end of shifts
  • abide by company and hotel policies
  • actively listen and communicate effectively
