Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • previous banquet server experience preferred
  • must be able to follow directions and get along well with others
  • must be TIPS, CARE or equivalent certified or become certified by first day on the job

Job Duties

  • Review and understand the Banquet Event Order
  • complete setup according to the BEO
  • set tables with clean linens, silverware, china, and glassware
  • learn and explain menu items to guests
  • be present in assigned station 15 minutes before function starts
  • respond to guests' requests promptly
  • keep station neat and clean during service
  • patrol assigned station to refill drinks and remove service items
  • ensure guest satisfaction by providing all necessary items
  • use proper clearing and aisle tray break down procedures
  • return reusable table complements for cleaning and refilling
  • assist Captain or Manager in setting up and breaking down buffet and special food service tables
  • set up, tend, and break down banquet bars
  • follow cash and guest check procedures
  • return excess food to kitchen following sanitation guidelines
  • complete assigned side work such as refilling condiments and cleaning equipment
  • assist steward in maintaining banquet storage areas
  • learn and apply proper service procedures
  • assist co-workers whenever needed
  • stay informed about hotel events affecting responsibilities
  • maintain responsible alcohol service certification
  • mix and serve drinks during banquet events
  • set up, service, break down, and clean coffee break areas and carts
  • present breaks attractively and within time parameters
  • prepare beverages according to standards
  • secure beverage coolers and storage after shifts
  • follow all company, hotel, and departmental policies
  • actively listen to guests and team members
