With a mission to create a better everyday for everyone, Sodexo prides itself on fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment. The company values diversity and inclusion, ensuring that every employee is treated with respect and fairness while encouraging employees to bring their authentic selves to work. Sodexo is dedicated to improving the quality of life for those they serve and contributing positively to the social, economic, and environmental progress within the communities where they operate.
The Sodexo Banquet Porter position is based at the Las Vegas Convention Center and offers an on-call part-time employment opportunity with a competitive pay rate of $26.96 per hour. This role requires a flexible schedule with varying shifts and open availability is preferred to meet business needs effectively.
As a Banquet Porter at Sodexo, you will play a key role in the successful coordination and execution of banquet and catered events. This position focuses on providing direct, on-floor leadership by guiding banquet servers and other porters, ensuring that service is delivered seamlessly and in accordance with Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and customer expectations. The Banquet Porter is essential in maintaining high service standards, guest satisfaction, and attention to detail throughout event setup, service, and breakdown phases. This leadership role involves close collaboration with banquet supervisors, culinary teams, and service staff to ensure smooth and professional event execution.
The Banquet Porter also has responsibilities related to compliance with food safety regulations such as HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) and alcohol service policies. Additionally, this position assists with the training and onboarding of banquet service staff when directed, contributing to team development and performance excellence. The role demands physical stamina with frequent lifting of up to 35 pounds and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, along with reliable attendance and punctuality.
Sodexo supports continuous professional development by offering ongoing training and advancement opportunities. The company provides a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, holidays, medical, dental, vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, 401k plans, discount programs, and more, which enhance the overall well-being of employees and their families. Some locations may provide additional benefits such as free shift meals, uniforms, safety shoes, and transportation assistance.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals with prior banquet, catering, or food and beverage service experience, especially those who have held lead or captain roles in event environments. Candidates must meet age requirements for serving alcohol according to local and state regulations and hold relevant certifications such as TIPS or TEAM for alcohol service, as well as food handler certification when required. Whether you are looking to develop a career in hospitality or seeking a flexible part-time role with a reputable company, Sodexo offers a workplace culture that encourages growth, belonging, and meaningful contribution.
