Job Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
- Three or more years of banquet management experience in a large hotel setting
- Prior experience managing unionized staff preferred
- Ability to work flexible shifts including mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of banquet operations and event management procedures
- Ability to meet physical demands of the role and work in a fast-paced environment
Job Qualifications
- At least three years of experience in banquet and banquet set-up roles in hotels with 500+ rooms and 50,000+ square feet of meeting or event space
- Experience managing union teams preferred
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work full availability including mornings, evenings, overnight, weekends and holidays
- Knowledge of health, safety, sanitation and alcohol awareness standards
- Proven ability to supervise and develop a diverse team
Job Duties
- Manage and lead banquet and facilities housepersons
- Oversee function room breakdown and proper equipment storage
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation and alcohol awareness standards
- Manage daily banquet functions including planning and execution of meals and receptions
- Oversee correct setup of function rooms including linens, silverware, glassware and chinaware
- Monitor and develop team member performance including scheduling, counseling, evaluations and recognition
- Recruit, interview and train new team members
- Communicate function specifications and changes with relevant departments
