Job Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Three or more years of banquet management experience in a large hotel setting
  • Prior experience managing unionized staff preferred
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of banquet operations and event management procedures
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the role and work in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • At least three years of experience in banquet and banquet set-up roles in hotels with 500+ rooms and 50,000+ square feet of meeting or event space
  • Experience managing union teams preferred
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work full availability including mornings, evenings, overnight, weekends and holidays
  • Knowledge of health, safety, sanitation and alcohol awareness standards
  • Proven ability to supervise and develop a diverse team

Job Duties

  • Manage and lead banquet and facilities housepersons
  • Oversee function room breakdown and proper equipment storage
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation and alcohol awareness standards
  • Manage daily banquet functions including planning and execution of meals and receptions
  • Oversee correct setup of function rooms including linens, silverware, glassware and chinaware
  • Monitor and develop team member performance including scheduling, counseling, evaluations and recognition
  • Recruit, interview and train new team members
  • Communicate function specifications and changes with relevant departments
