Job Description

Elvis Presley Enterprises is the renowned organization responsible for the management and preservation of Graceland, the iconic home of Elvis Presley located in Memphis, Tennessee. Since opening to the public in 1982, Graceland has become one of the most celebrated and visited historic homes in the United States, ranking as the fifth most visited home tour in the country and second only to The White House in national fame. Graceland attracts over 500,000 visitors annually from around the globe, representing a wide range of ages, musical tastes, income levels, and educational backgrounds. The estate itself has historic significance, having been placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991 and designated a National Historic Landmark in 2006. As an employer, Elvis Presley Enterprises values southern hospitality, cultural heritage, and exceptional guest experiences, striving to treat every visitor with warmth and respect that echo the charm and charisma Elvis Presley himself embodied.

This job opening is for a full-time leadership position within the Events Department at The Guest House at Graceland. Reporting directly to the Director of Events, this role demands flexibility in working hours, including varied shifts on weekends, holidays, and evenings as required by event schedules. Eligible candidates will have the opportunity to enroll in the company’s benefits plan after completing a 60-day introductory period. The position is both a promotional opportunity and an external recruitment, welcoming both internal candidates and outside applicants.

The role centers on overseeing the banquet operations team across multiple venues on the Graceland campus, including The Guest House at Graceland, Graceland itself, and Elvis Presley Memphis. This leadership position carries the responsibility for the success of banquet services including directing banquet leadership, managing servers, bartenders, and setup teams. The role involves managing large-scale events—upwards of 600 groups, conventions, and special functions annually—covering more than 80,000 square feet of dedicated convention and event space on campus, with additional responsibilities for off-site catered occasions.

Key responsibilities include maximizing operating income and profitability by managing department budgets, expenses, and revenue optimization, while ensuring consistent high customer satisfaction through quality service delivery. The position demands strategic leadership in employee development, team morale, and motivation as well as maintaining strong communication channels within the team. The candidate will also direct banquet operations logistics, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, proper maintenance of equipment and function areas, and the accurate handling of billing and gratuity in coordination with accounting departments.

This role acts as a catalyst for continuous improvement by assessing and streamlining departmental policies and procedures. The candidate will participate actively in various committees and meetings such as Department Head meetings, menu reviews, quality assessments, and convention prep and follow-ups. Strong leadership and communication skills are indispensable for conflict resolution and fostering collaborative workplace dynamics. This challenging yet rewarding position offers the opportunity to contribute significantly to an internationally esteemed cultural destination on a grand scale, perfect for professionals passionate about hospitality management and event leadership within a historic and dynamic setting.
