Job Description

This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, Avion Hospitality. Although affiliated with the Marriott International brand, the franchisee functions as a separate company and employer. This means that all employment policies, including hiring, firing, discipline, staffing, compensation, and benefits, are exclusively managed by Avion Hospitality. When you join this hotel, your employment contract is with Avion Hospitality, not Marriott International. This arrangement highlights the unique culture and operational style of the hotel, combining the strength of a global brand with the local autonomy of an independent franchisee.

The position of Banquet Manager plays an essential role in the hospitality service lineup of this hotel. Reporting directly to the Director of Banquets, the Banquet Manager is entrusted with overseeing the full spectrum of banquet events, ensuring that each event is executed flawlessly and guests experience outstanding service. Banquets are a key revenue stream and reputation builder for the hotel, making this managerial role both critical and highly visible.

The Banquet Manager's responsibilities include comprehensive event coordination—handling everything from food and beverage service to decor and seating arrangements. This involves working closely with clients to ensure their vision and specifications are fully realized. Beyond planning, the manager supervises banquet staff, engaging in hiring, training, and creating schedules that optimize service delivery while maintaining cost controls. Team leadership and motivation are crucial as banquets require seamless cooperation among kitchen staff, catering teams, and other departments.

Logistics are another important aspect of this role. The Banquet Manager manages the setup and breakdown of events, as well as equipment use and availability, ensuring that all operational details align perfectly. Communication and liaison work with related departments foster a well-synchronized event experience. The manager also serves as the main point of contact for clients throughout their event journey, swiftly addressing any concerns or last-minute changes to maximize client satisfaction.

Quality control is a paramount responsibility, as the Banquet Manager must monitor food and service standards continuously. Guests’ positive experiences hinge on consistent quality, and this role demands a keen eye for detail and problem-solving capabilities. Given the nature of banquet work, the job requires flexibility with working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the timing of most event schedules. The physical demands include substantial standing and occasionally moving or lifting equipment.

This full-time position is salaried and exempt, with compensation commensurate with experience. After an initial waiting period, the Banquet Manager is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k retirement options, and paid time off. The company affirms equal opportunity employment, welcoming applicants from diverse backgrounds who are eager to contribute to a dynamic hospitality team focused on excellence in banquet event management.
