As a well-regarded hotel brand, Hotel Marcel is committed to sustainability, excellence in customer service, and offering a welcoming and comfortable environment for both leisure and business travelers. The hotel prides itself on its innovative approach to hospitality, combining modern amenities with eco-friendly practices to cater to the evolving needs of today's conscious traveler. With its prime location and commitment to quality, Hotel Marcel stands out as a premier destination for events, accommodations, and culinary experiences in the New Haven area.

The Banquet Manager at Hotel Marcel plays a pivotal role in ensuring that every event, whether social or corporate, is executed flawlessly and leaves a lasting impression on patrons. This management position involves leading the overall coordination and execution of various events, overseeing all aspects from initial setup, food and beverage service, to the breakdown after the event concludes. The ideal candidate will be an organized and vibrant individual, adept at managing large groups and events with precision and professionalism.

The Banquet Manager serves as a key liaison between the sales and culinary teams, attending Banquet Event Order (BEO) meetings to align on event details such as setup, timing, and service delivery. This role requires careful planning to determine staffing needs, preparing work schedules, and supervising the event setup to ensure that all equipment, tables, chairs, and other necessary arrangements are in place according to the event diagram. The Banquet Manager is also the onsite contact person responsible for addressing any last-minute or special requests to enhance the guests’ experience.

In addition to managing the flow of guests and overseeing the quality of food and beverage service, the Banquet Manager ensures strict adherence to safe food handling practices. Supervising the event's breakdown and ensuring the venue is properly cleaned and organized is also a critical responsibility. The position requires expertise in financial management, including charging group folios in the Property Management System (PMS), verifying and approving timecards, and managing service charge payouts in compliance with relevant laws.

Recruitment, training, coaching, and counseling of the banquet team form an essential part of the Banquet Manager's role, emphasizing the need to uphold and exceed service standards consistently. The manager also conducts monthly inventories of banquet supplies and maintains banquet equipment and facilities to ensure a clean, organized, and safe working environment.

This role demands a highly skilled leader who can multitask, prioritize tasks efficiently, and adapt to a dynamic hotel environment. Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills are paramount, along with the ability to remain flexible and composed under pressure. The Banquet Manager must be willing to work varying shifts including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight events to meet the demands of the hospitality industry.

Hotel Marcel offers an enriching work environment where dedication to quality service and sustainable practices are valued.
