The role of Banquet Set Up Associate at HHM Hotels is crucial in ensuring that meeting rooms and event spaces are impeccably prepared and maintained according to the needs of each event. This position primarily involves setting up, breaking down, and servicing meeting rooms to meet established guest service and environmental sustainability standards under HHM’s EarthView program. As a Banquet Set Up Associate, you will work closely with event coordinators and banquet teams to ensure that all set-up specifications, such as staging, tables, chairs, dance floors, and audiovisual equipment, are accurately implemented to exceed guest expectations.

Your responsibilities include the safe transportation and arrangement of heavy and sometimes awkward equipment from storage into event spaces, ensuring they are secured properly. You will also be responsible for the efficient break down and organization of banquet items, maintaining cleanliness and readiness of all function spaces. This role often requires responsive service to guest requests and the ability to handle complaints delicately or escalate when necessary. Emphasizing safety, you will adhere to OSHA standards and follow all safety protocols including the use of personal protective equipment. Flexibility is key as the position may require working various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.

Job Duties

  • Set up meeting rooms according to banquet event order forms and documents to ensure set up meets guest expectations
  • Transport awkward and heavy materials such as staging, tables, chairs, dance floors, etc., from storage area to meeting rooms in a safe manner using proper equipment
  • Break down meeting rooms and return banquet items to storage closet in a neat and organized fashion
  • Maintain established cleaning schedule of meeting rooms and ballrooms ensuring rooms are presentable at all times
  • Respond to guest requests for service changes in room set up and assist with information requests regarding other areas of the hotel
  • Handle guest complaints personally or if necessary seek assistance from supervisor
  • Follow sustainability guidelines and practices related to HHM’s EarthView program
  • Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards
  • Perform other duties as requested by management
