Job Description

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a renowned non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962, dedicated to providing strategic insights and practical policy solutions for global security and prosperity. Over the decades, CSIS has evolved into one of the largest and most respected institutions of its kind, employing a team of around 250 dedicated staff members, including over 120 analysts. These experts focus on addressing the complex and ever-changing dynamics of international security across the world. CSIS plays a critical role in shaping policy decisions that affect global peace, economic development, and security by combining thorough research, innovative approaches, and collaborative efforts among policymakers, stakeholders, and the public.

The organization is committed to fostering a supportive workplace environment and ensuring productive engagement with its stakeholders. As part of this mission, the Banquet Coordinator position supports vital event operations at the CSIS facility. This role involves managing conference room setups and providing comprehensive food and beverage services during various official events such as conferences, dinners, and special meetings. The Banquet Coordinator acts as a frontline representative of CSIS, interacting positively and professionally with guests and staff to ensure seamless event execution.

The position is full-time and requires a flexible on-site schedule. Remuneration for this role ranges between $25.00 to $27.40 per hour, depending on experience. Responsibilities include responding promptly to event-related inquiries, assisting senior conferencing managers, and coordinating food orders with external caterers. The role demands operational oversight of room configurations, from setting up stages and seating arrangements to ensuring translation equipment and other technology are correctly installed and maintained. Additionally, the Banquet Coordinator manages inventory for kitchen supplies, maintains beverage availability throughout events, and ensures proper cleanup and breakdown post-event.

Candidates for this position should be adept at multitasking in a fast-paced environment and embrace teamwork. The ability to communicate effectively and provide superior customer service is essential. The role also requires adaptability to changing requirements and the capacity to carry out additional special tasks, projects, or reports as assigned. This position is ideal for individuals with prior experience in banquet coordination, wait staff roles, or similar event-support functions, who are interested in contributing to an organization with a strong mission dedicated to international affairs and public policy.

CSIS welcomes candidates from diverse backgrounds and is an Equal Opportunity Employer, offering reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities as needed. Prospective applicants interested in making a meaningful impact through well-organized event support are encouraged to apply with their resume and cover letter through the CSIS careers website.
