Job Description

The Kalispel Tribe of Indians is a respected and culturally rich Indigenous community located in the Pacific Northwest, known for its commitment to preserving Native American heritage, culture, and community welfare. The Tribe operates a variety of enterprises including gaming facilities, hospitality services, dining establishments, and other property operations aimed at providing excellent services to their members and visitors alike. The Kalispel Tribe values integrity, community well-being, and economic development while fostering an inclusive work environment that respects diversity and promotes equal opportunity. The employment opportunity offered by the Kalispel Tribe not only allows individuals to contribute to a thriving community but also to grow their career in a supportive environment that upholds the highest standards of service and professionalism.

We are hiring a Cook to join our culinary team within the Kalispel Tribe’s food and beverage operations. This role is essential in preparing, seasoning, and cooking various food items including soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, specialty dishes, and other consumables served in our dining venues across the property. As a Cook, you will be responsible for ensuring superior quality in food preparation and presentation, aligned with all safety and sanitation guidelines mandated by regulatory authorities such as the FDA. Your meticulous attention to detail and adherence to recipes and control procedures will help maintain the highest standards of food quality and guest satisfaction.

The position requires a dynamic individual who is skilled in different cooking methods and is capable of managing food rotation protocols to promote freshness and minimize waste. You will play a key supporting role to the Sous Chef by assisting in specialty dish preparation and performing quality control checks before, during, and after production. This position demands flexibility to work variable shifts based on business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays. While the role does not hold supervisory responsibilities, the ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective communication within the kitchen team and other departments is paramount.

Candidates will likely have prior experience in high-volume cooking environments, paired with a commitment to food safety and sanitation standards. Compliance with tribal policies and internal controls is essential to the successful execution of daily duties. Physical demands of the job include the ability to lift heavy objects, perform repetitive wrist and hand motions, and work in a typical casino environment where exposure to noise, tobacco smoke, and varying temperatures is expected.

This is an at-will employment position with the Kalispel Tribe of Indians, which means employment can be terminated at any time with or without cause. All hires are subject to background checks and drug testing to ensure workplace safety and integrity. The Tribe is an Equal Opportunity Employer and applies Indian hiring preference consistent with federal laws. We welcome applicants who are motivated to contribute to a vibrant work setting that combines cultural heritage with modern hospitality and culinary excellence. Join us and be a part of a dedicated team making a difference in our community and providing memorable dining experiences to our guests.
