Job Description

The Duquesne Club is a prestigious private social club known for its rich history and commitment to providing an exceptional experience for its members and guests. Located in a prime setting, the club offers a unique blend of tradition and excellence in hospitality, making it a sought-after destination for social gatherings, events, and fine dining. With a focus on fostering a warm and welcoming atmosphere, the Duquesne Club prides itself on outstanding service, professionalism, and attention to detail. This establishment values creating memorable moments for every individual who walks through its doors, ensuring that each guest feels recognized and valued through attentive and personalized service.

As a full-time Banquet Captain at the Duquesne Club, you will play a critical role in upholding the club's reputation for excellence by leading the banquet service team and ensuring seamless event execution. The primary objective of the Banquet Captain is to supervise and coordinate banquet waitstaff, oversee event setup, monitor service quality, and maintain a pristine and comfortable environment for the duration of events. This includes managing room temperature, cleanliness, and proper arrangements according to member specifications. The Banquet Captain will work closely with kitchen staff to coordinate timely and efficient food service, ensuring courses are delivered to guests without delay.

This role requires not only leadership and organizational skills but also a strong customer service orientation geared towards exceeding members’ and guests’ expectations. The Banquet Captain will conduct pre-function meetings to communicate menu details and special instructions, set high service standards, and ensure all team members execute these standards perfectly to create an elegant dining experience. Responsibilities extend to overseeing beverage service, including passing hors d'oeuvres and bartending if necessary, and promptly addressing any guest concerns in collaboration with management.

An essential aspect of this position is the ability to foster teamwork and motivate the banquet team, ensuring a smooth and coordinated service flow during busy times. The Banquet Captain must also be vigilant in enforcing safety protocols and responding appropriately to emergencies or incidents. Attendance at club meetings and adherence to all club policies and procedures is expected.

Ideal candidates for this role will have prior experience in banquet supervision, especially within upscale dining or hospitality settings, possess fine dining etiquette knowledge, be self-motivated, and demonstrate excellent communication abilities. Physical stamina is important due to the demands of carrying trays and maintaining active service throughout events. Additional duties may include off-premises event coordination such as managing transportation, staff scheduling, and logistics for catered functions, requiring flexibility and strong organizational capabilities.

The hourly salary for this Banquet Captain position is $24.70, reflecting the club’s commitment to attracting skilled professionals dedicated to delivering high-quality service. Joining the Duquesne Club means becoming part of an esteemed team that values professionalism, friendliness, and engagement, all aimed at creating extraordinary dining and event experiences. If you have the passion to lead a dynamic banquet team and contribute to a distinguished private club atmosphere, this role offers a great opportunity to advance your career in hospitality.
