The Banquet Captain role is crucial within the food and beverage department of Spokane Tribe Resort & Casino, tasked with ensuring the flawless execution of banquet services. This role demands a highly organized and proactive leader who manages both the presentation of food and beverages and the comprehensive needs of guests during events. The Banquet Captain supervises the setup and teardown of meeting and banquet equipment, ensuring spaces are prepared to the highest standards prior to the arrival of guests and restored properly after functions. They are the key liaison between banquet patrons, kitchen staff, and the service team, guaranteeing seamless communication and timely service delivery.
In this position, the Banquet Captain actively promotes and supports the resort’s core mission, vision, and values while maintaining excellent guest relations and handling any concerns or suggestions with professionalism and care. They coordinate closely with kitchen teams to assure food quality and presentation meets established standards while managing the organization and timing of food and beverage service staff. The role also encompasses various administrative duties including handling receipts, special event planning, and rental equipment arrangements. Effective communication and positive engagement with clients and team members is at the heart of the Banquet Captain's responsibilities, as is collecting payments for banquet functions.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Minimum of one year experience in a supervisory or managerial position within a large multi-faceted food and beverage department
- Supervisory experience must include maintaining a staff of up to 10 running multiple functions simultaneously and overseeing functions of up to 250 plus guests
- At least two years experience working in a variety of capacities within a high-volume banquet or catering operation with one year of fine dining service required
- Obtain and maintain a valid WA State Health Card or Food Handlers Permit
- Obtain and maintain a valid MAST certification
Job Qualifications

- Read write and speak English fluently
- Advanced knowledge of special menu items food preparation and presentation presentation of wines and liquor complete knowledge of all room set-ups table set-ups and catering procedures
- Advanced computer skills including MS Office Suite and point of sale systems
- Ability to present etiquette in table setting and service
- Ability to train and mentor diverse staff
- Ability to work well with subordinates and management
- Ability to work with and maintain confidential materials and information
- Working knowledge of health and safety standards and safety regulations as required
Job Duties
- Practice support and promote the mission vision and values of Spokane Tribe Resort & Casino
- Meet with all conveners at the beginning of all functions
- Ensure the smooth professional operation of the banquet functions
- Promote positive guest relations and handle complaints and suggestions
- Work closely with the kitchen to ensure food quality and presentation standards
- Responsible for the organization of the staff and the timelines of food and beverage service
- Perform administrative tasks including receipts special events planning and rental equipment ordering
- Communicate with clients and staff in a professional manner
- Collect payment for banquet room functions
- Ensure proper and timely set-up and teardown and perform final walk-through of the rooms
- Create maintain and facilitate a positive work environment
- Smile and engage guests and team members with a positive professional demeanor
- Perform other duties as assigned
