The Full Time Banquet Captain role at Renaissance Baton Rouge is a critical position within the hotel’s Food and Beverage department. The Banquet Captain is primarily responsible for supervising and assisting the banquet service team in delivering exceptional food and beverage service at all banquet functions, strictly adhering to the hotel’s established standards. This role involves ensuring guest satisfaction through responsive and courteous service while maintaining effective communication with management and other departments. The Banquet Captain oversees the setup and breakdown of banquet events in accordance with Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), coordinates with Sales and Catering teams, and assists in preparing work schedules and wage progress reports.

The ideal candidate for this position will be attentive, friendly, and professional, capable of managing teams and addressing guest needs promptly. Responsibilities encompass inspecting banquet setups, acting as a liaison between guests and management, responding to guest feedback, and ensuring compliance with hotel policies including money handling procedures. This role demands keen organizational skills to maintain banquet storerooms, manage supplies, and ensure all tasks are performed efficiently. Moreover, the Banquet Captain plays an essential role in upholding the hotel's reputation by delivering impeccable service excellence and ensuring that all banquet functions are executed flawlessly.

Job Requirements

  • Prior experience in banquet or event service
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to handle guest complaints professionally

Job Duties

  • Respond to guests needs in a timely manner
  • Communicate problems or issues to Banquet Manager, Banquet Supervisor, or Food and Beverage Manager
  • Assist Banquet Manager, Supervisor, and Food and Beverage Manager with creation of banquet work schedule and completion of banquet wage progress reports
  • Inspect setup of meeting and banquet functions, checking against Banquet Event Order
  • Act as liaison between Sales/Catering Manager and in-house meeting or banquet contact
  • Perform preparatory tasks and side-work duties to ensure guests are served promptly and efficiently
  • Serve guests according to hotel standards in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner
