Job Description
Avion Hospitality is a well-established hospitality company known for its commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences across its portfolio of hotels and resorts. With a focus on quality service, guest satisfaction, and operational excellence, Avion Hospitality has built a reputation for creating memorable occasions for both leisure and business travelers. The company values professionalism, teamwork, and continuous improvement, making it an attractive employer within the hospitality industry. Avion Hospitality fosters a collaborative work environment while upholding high standards of service, safety, and operational efficiency across all departments.
The Banquet Captain role at Avion Hospitality is a pivotal position responsible for overseeing the set up, service, and clean up of banquet functions assigned to them. This position requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual who can supervise banquet staff while ensuring that all events run smoothly and that guest expectations are consistently met or exceeded. As the Banquet Captain, the individual acts as a critical liaison between the sales and catering teams and the on-site event contacts, facilitating clear communication and problem solving throughout the event lifecycle.
This role demands a solid understanding of banquet operations within the hotel environment, including the ability to inspect setups against event orders, manage beverage service compliance including liquor requisition and control, and enforce hotel policies and safety regulations. The Banquet Captain helps create work schedules, oversee wage progress reports, assist with hiring and training banquet personnel, and support the banquet manager and food and beverage leadership in the execution of high-quality events. The individual must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, be capable of handling stressful, high-pressure situations with composure, and show initiative in anticipating event needs ahead of time.
Employing a minimum of one year of progressive experience in a hotel or related setting, this role prefers candidates with previous supervisory experience and relevant educational background. Alcohol awareness certification, compliance with state regulations, and the ability to interpret financial information and basic arithmetic are required competencies. The Banquet Captain position requires strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to problem-solve efficiently.
Physical demands of the role include standing and walking for extended periods, reaching, pushing, pulling, and manual dexterity, along with the capacity to maintain composure in a noisy and dynamic environment. The role enforces strict adherence to safety policies including fire safety knowledge and responsible handling of lost and found items. The company emphasizes a team-oriented culture where all associates maintain a friendly, service-oriented approach when dealing with guests and colleagues.
Avion Hospitality encourages diversity and provides reasonable accommodation for individuals with disabilities, aligning with legal standards and best practices in employment. The company operates on an at-will employment basis, with flexibility to adjust roles and responsibilities as operational needs evolve. This dynamic, hands-on Banquet Captain role offers the opportunity to contribute to premium guest experiences and develop professionally within the hospitality sector.
