We are currently seeking a dedicated and hands-on Banquet Captain to lead and execute exceptional banquet and event experiences that reflect the thoughtful, heartfelt hospitality Lyle is known for. This role is perfectly suited for a proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced event environment, takes pride in delivering seamless operations, and is passionate about guiding and motivating a team toward delivering outstanding service. The Banquet Captain will play a pivotal role in overseeing banquet functions from start to finish, working closely with event planners, culinary staff, and front-of-house teams to ensure every detail is managed to the highest standards.
The successful candidate will not only oversee banquet operations but will also embody the culture, mission, and commitment that define Lyle. This includes anticipating guest needs, maintaining impeccable service standards, and fostering an environment of teamwork and mutual support. You will be responsible for supervising setup, service, and breakdown of events, coaching and directing banquet staff, and ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and food handling regulations. In addition, the Banquet Captain acts as the primary liaison among all event team members, ensuring smooth communication and flawless execution from preparation to cleanup.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year of progressive experience in hospitality or events
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Valid Alcohol Awareness Certification complying with state regulations
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
- Proactive and detail-oriented
- Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to act as Manager on Duty when required
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year of progressive experience in a hotel, events, or hospitality environment
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred
- Valid Alcohol Awareness Certification in accordance with state regulations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and decision-making abilities
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and solutions-focused under pressure
- Proactive, team-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail
- Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) in restaurant operations when needed
Job Duties
- Supervise and assist with the setup, service, and breakdown of banquet functions to ensure smooth execution
- Lead, coach, and direct banquet servers and support staff, assigning responsibilities and maintaining service standards
- Serve as the primary point of contact between event planners, kitchen, and service teams
- Provide exceptional guest service, addressing inquiries, special requests, and resolving issues promptly
- Ensure all event details including food presentation, table settings, and ambiance meet or exceed standards
- Coordinate closely with culinary and service teams to execute event specifications accurately
- Monitor event flow and timelines to ensure seamless progression of service and scheduled activities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of banquet spaces before, during, and after events
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and food handling standards
- Assist with training and mentoring team members
- Oversee banquet inventory, including linens, tableware, and service equipment
