They are hiring for a Full-Time Banquet Captain position, which plays a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of superior food and beverage services during various banquet functions and special events hosted at the resort. The Banquet Captain is a key leader within the food and beverage department, responsible for the smooth execution and coordination of banquet services. This includes overseeing the setup and teardown of event spaces, managing a staff of up to 10 people, and ensuring that all guests receive professional and timely services throughout the events. The role requires close collaboration with kitchen staff to maintain high standards of food presentation and quality. In addition, the Banquet Captain must uphold the resort’s mission, vision, and values by fostering a positive work environment and promoting harmonious interactions between guests, team members, and management. Candidates must be at least 21 years old and possess supervisory experience in large, dynamic food and beverage operations, ideally with exposure to fine dining settings. Required certifications include a valid Washington State Health Card or Food Handlers Permit and MAST certification. Technical competencies such as computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and P.O.S. systems are essential, alongside strong communication skills and the ability to mentor and train diverse teams. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- must be 21 years of age or older
- minimum of one year experience in supervisory or managerial position within a large multi-faceted food and beverage department
- supervisory experience must include managing a staff of up to 10
- experience running multiple functions simultaneously
- overseeing functions of up to 250+ guests
- at least two years experience in various roles within a high-volume banquet/catering operation
- one year fine dining service experience required
- obtain and maintain a valid WA State Health Card/Food Handlers Permit
- obtain and maintain a valid MAST certification
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- minimum of one year experience in a supervisory or managerial position within a large multi-faceted food and beverage department
- supervisory experience must include maintaining a staff of up to 10, running multiple functions simultaneously, and overseeing functions of up to 250+ guests
- at least two years experience working in a variety of capacities within a high-volume banquet/catering operation with one year of fine dining service required
- obtain and maintain a valid WA State Health Card/Food Handlers Permit
- obtain and maintain a valid MAST certification
- demonstrate excellent communication skills both oral and written
- read, write and speak English fluently
- demonstrate advanced knowledge of special menu items, food preparation and presentation, presentation of wines and liquor
- advanced knowledge of all room set-ups, table set-ups, and catering procedures
- exhibit advanced skills using computer software, MS Office Suite and P.O.S. or register systems
- demonstrate ability to present etiquette in table setting and service
- demonstrate ability to train and mentor diverse staff
- demonstrate ability to work well with subordinates and management
- demonstrate ability to work with and maintain confidential materials and information
- exhibit working knowledge of health & safety standards, and safety regulations as required
Job Duties
- Practice, support, and promote the mission, vision, and values of Spokane Tribe Resort & Casino
- meet with all conveners at the beginning of all functions
- ensure the smooth, professional operation of the banquet functions
- promote positive guest relations and handle complaints and suggestions
- work closely with the kitchen to ensure food quality and presentation standards
- responsible for the organization of the staff and the timelines of food and beverage service
- perform administrative tasks including receipts, special events planning, and rental equipment ordering
- communicate with clients and staff in a professional manner
- collect payment for banquet room functions
- ensure proper and timely set-up and teardown, and perform final walk-through of the rooms
- create, maintain, and facilitate a positive work environment
- smile and engage guests and team members with a positive professional demeanor
- perform other duties as assigned
