As part of Banner Health, one of the largest nonprofit health systems in the United States, Banner University Medical Center is dedicated to delivering high-quality patient care, innovative research, and outstanding medical education. The facility offers a wide range of specialties and services, contributing significantly to the health and wellness of the communities it serves. Banner Health values its employees and has earned recognition as a Great Place To Work, emphasizing the importance of professional growth, employee well-being, and inclusive workplace culture. The Environmental Services department at Banner University Medical Center plays a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and aesthetic appeal of the hospital environment, contributing to the overall patient experience and staff satisfaction.

The role of Environmental Services Team Associate, based at Banner University Medical Center, is essential in ensuring a clean, sanitized, and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This position operates primarily on evening shifts from 3pm to 11:30pm and includes rotating weekends. It offers a flexible, per diem employment opportunity, suitable for individuals looking to join a dedicated team with meaningful contributions to hospital operations. Per diem status allows for flexible scheduling with weekly pay and additional financial incentives such as a flat rate weekend shift differential and an 18 percent night shift differential when applicable. While this position does not guarantee hours or provide a medical benefits package, it includes valuable perks such as paid orientation, a 403(b) pre-tax retirement plan, employee assistance and wellness programs, and various discounts ranging from entertainment to dining and shopping.

As an Environmental Services Team Associate, you will perform a range of cleaning duties including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming, and polishing patient rooms and other assigned areas according to stringent hospital policies. Your responsibilities will extend to handling soiled linen and medical waste disposal while ensuring supplies are replenished in all areas. Maintaining departmental equipment and reporting repairs helps safeguard operational effectiveness. Additionally, handling special projects like window or wall washing and heavy cleaning tasks may be required. The role demands excellent customer service skills to respond effectively to inquiries and requests from patients, visitors, staff, and management, reflecting the department's commitment to quality and safety.

This position requires individuals capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team while adhering to strict infection control and safety protocols. Clear communication skills and the ability to read and comprehend instructions, including material safety data sheets and chemical handling guidelines, are necessary. Preference is given to candidates with prior experience in environmental services and familiarity with relevant equipment and cleaning techniques. Requirements include passing a post-offer occupational health physical assessment, drug screen, and background checks, including employment, criminal, and education verifications. Specific roles working within behavioral health settings or at Olive Branch Senior Center require possession of an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card as a condition of employment.

By joining the Banner University Medical Center Environmental Services team, you become part of a cohesive, high-performing group dedicated to supporting the hospital’s mission to provide a safe and healing environment. This is not just a job but an opportunity to contribute to patient care indirectly through diligent maintenance of hospital hygiene and cleanliness, ensuring the well-being and comfort of all who enter the facility.
