The Bakery/Deli Grocery Clerk plays a pivotal role in the success of our grocery department by delivering exceptional service and ensuring that customers receive fresh and properly prepared products. This position requires a friendly, reliable individual who is passionate about meeting customer needs and supporting the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals. The grocery clerk in the bakery and deli sections is responsible for preparing products according to customer requests, offering product samples to introduce new offerings, and accurately informing customers about specials and product features.

In addition to customer interaction, this role involves proper handling and use of bakery equipment, including refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens. Food safety and quality assurance are top priorities, so maintaining freshness and adhering to food temperature logs and cooking instructions are essential. The clerk will measure, prepare, package, label, and stock bakery and deli items with great attention to detail to minimize waste and prevent shrinkage. An understanding of store layout and product knowledge enables the clerk to assist customers efficiently and promote sales through informed recommendations.

The Bakery/Deli Grocery Clerk also supports operational excellence by monitoring inventory conditions, checking product expiration dates, and reporting any issues to management promptly. Maintaining accurate temperature logs for cases and coolers safeguards product quality and complies with health regulations. Safety is integrated into daily practices by following established procedures, identifying hazards, and supporting preventive maintenance efforts for equipment.
