Job Requirements

- prior experience in grocery or food service preferred
- ability to prepare and handle food safely
- knowledge of bakery and deli equipment operation

Job Duties
- Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
- offer product samples to help customers discover new items
- inform customers of bakery and deli specials
- provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes
- recommend deli or bakery items to customers
- use equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines
- prepare foods according to food temperature logs and cooking instructions
- measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipes
- prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients in merchandise
- check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell-by dates
- properly use kitchen equipment including stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe
- label, stock and inventory department merchandise
- report product ordering or shipping discrepancies
- locate products requested by customers
- stay current with seasonal and special ads
- maintain knowledge of products in the department
- monitor inventory conditions
- ensure proper temperatures in display cases
- promote trust and respect among associates
- create a welcoming environment for customers
- adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
- perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment
