Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in bakery or deli preferred
- Knowledge of food safety standards
- Ability to use bakery and deli equipment

- Ability to operate bakery and deli equipment safely

- Ability to read and follow recipes and instructions
- Attention to detail and quality control
Job Duties
- Prepare bakery and deli items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items
- Inform customers of bakery and deli specials
- Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
- Recommend deli or bakery items to customers
- Use all bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines
- Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking instructions
- Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipe using kitchen utensils and equipment
- Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients and merchandise
- Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell by dates
- Properly use kitchen equipment including stoves, scales, fryers, steamers
- Label, stock and inventory department merchandise
- Report product ordering and shipping discrepancies to the department manager
- Understand store layout and locate products upon customer request
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
- Gain and maintain product knowledge and respond to customer questions and suggestions
- Maintain awareness of inventory and note discrepancies
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and logs updated
- Promote trust and respect among associates
- Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering product questions
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
- Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and report equipment needing repair
