We are currently seeking a motivated and customer-focused Grocery Clerk for our Bakery and Deli sections. This role is fundamental in creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and ensuring that the bakery and deli departments operate smoothly and efficiently. The Grocery Clerk will assist in preparing bakery and deli items per customer requests using appropriate equipment and will be proactive in offering product samples to help customers discover new and exciting products. The clerk will play a critical role in maintaining product quality by following food safety regulations, monitoring freshness, managing inventory and labeling processes, and supporting department management in achieving sales and quality assurance goals.

The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, a solid understanding of food preparation and safety standards, and the ability to work as part of a team to foster a welcoming and respectful environment. They will be adept at using various bakery and deli equipment, maintaining temperature logs, and ensuring compliance with all company guidelines. Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Prepare bakery and deli items per customer requests using proper equipment
  • Offer product samples to customers to help discover new items
  • Inform customers of bakery and deli specials
  • Provide customers with fresh products and correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
  • Recommend deli or bakery items to customers
  • Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines
  • Prepare foods following temperature logs and cooking instructions
  • Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes
  • Package, label, and inventory merchandise
  • Check product quality and review sell by dates
  • Use kitchen equipment including stove, fryer, steamer, and robot coupe
  • Stock and inventory department merchandise
  • Report ordering and shipping discrepancies to manager
  • Locate products for customers within store layout
  • Stay current with seasonal and special ads
  • Maintain knowledge of department products to answer questions
  • Monitor inventory and stocking conditions
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and maintain logs
  • Promote trust and respect among associates
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations
  • Comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
  • Perform preventive maintenance and report equipment repair needs
