We are currently seeking a Grocery Clerk specialized in the Bakery/Deli area. This role is essential in ensuring customers receive top-quality baked and deli products while experiencing exceptional service. The Grocery Clerk will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment, offer product samples, and keep customers informed about current specials and product availability. Additionally, the clerk will assist in maintaining inventory, labeling, packaging, and ensuring all bakery and deli items meet quality standards by checking freshness and expiration dates. This position requires familiarity with kitchen equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens, mixers, fryers, and steamers, ensuring that all food preparation follows food temperature guidelines and cooking instructions. The clerk will also play a part in monitoring the department’s inventory and product shipment accuracy by reporting any discrepancies to the department manager.

Beyond the operational tasks, the Grocery Clerk must embrace the Customer 1st strategy, encouraging colleagues to deliver excellent customer service and contributing to a positive team environment built on trust and respect. The candidate will help create a welcoming environment where customers feel important and appreciated by answering questions about products and guiding them through the store layout when needed. This role is not only about technical skills and product knowledge but also about embodying the company’s values and commitment to workplace safety through adherence to safety procedures and proactive reporting of unsafe conditions or equipment needing repair. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in grocery, bakery, or deli environment preferred
  • ability to operate bakery and deli equipment
  • knowledge of food safety standards
  • strong interpersonal skills
  • basic math skills for measuring ingredients
  • ability to handle physical tasks and stand for extended periods
