Job Description

Kroger is the nation’s largest grocer with a rich history dating back over a century, beginning as a small grocery store in Cincinnati. Today, Kroger operates nearly 2,800 stores across 35 states under 28 different brand names, making it a significant player in the American grocery industry. The company prides itself on its commitment to bringing diverse teams together with a shared passion for food and people, all driven by the common purpose of "Feeding the Human Spirit." Kroger’s innovative culture focuses on creating exceptional experiences not only for customers but also for communities and associates. The core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety underpin every aspect of Kroger’s operations, fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace environment.

This Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) role is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Kroger family, where you will play a pivotal part in delivering outstanding customer experiences through exceptional service. In this role, you will assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and friendly environment that encourages customer loyalty and satisfaction. You will be involved in preparing items per customer requests, using proper bakery and deli equipment to ensure quality and freshness. Providing customers with product samples and recommending bakery or deli items to help them discover new products will be part of your daily routine. You will be responsible for managing product quality, inventory, and temperature controls to insure food safety standards are consistently met.

In addition to hands-on food preparation and customer service, you will support your department manager in achieving sales and profit goals while monitoring all established quality assurance standards. Embracing Kroger’s Customer 1st strategy, you will encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service and exemplify the company’s core values in all interactions. This role provides abundant opportunities for growth and development through industry-leading training programs and diverse career pathways. Whether you are looking for a part-time position or a new career path, Kroger offers a dynamic workplace where individuals with a caring and purpose-driven attitude can thrive and expand their potential.

Kroger also offers comprehensive benefits to support the well-being of its associates, including physical, emotional, and financial resources. Flexible scheduling options, paid time off, valuable employee discounts, tuition reimbursement, and access to counseling and financial coaching are all part of the comprehensive care Kroger provides to its employees. Joining Kroger means joining a company that truly values its people and strives to empower them to succeed both professionally and personally.
