Job Duties
- Prepare bakery and deli items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products
- Inform customers of bakery and deli specials
- Provide customers with fresh products and correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
- Recommend deli or bakery items to customers
- Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines
- Prepare foods following temperature logs and cooking instructions
- Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipes using kitchen utensils and equipment
- Package, label and inventory ingredients and merchandise
- Check product quality, review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action
- Maintain equipment including stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe
- Label, stock and inventory department merchandise
- Report product ordering and shipping discrepancies to the department manager
- Understand store layout to locate products when requested by customers
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
- Gain and maintain product knowledge to respond to customer questions and make suggestions
- Monitor inventory and stock conditions noting discrepancies
- Ensure proper temperatures are maintained in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs
- Promote trust and respect among associates
- Create a welcoming environment for customers answering questions about products
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs
