The Grocery Clerk position within the Bakery/Deli department at Ralphs offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about customer service and quality food preparation. Responsibilities include preparing bakery and deli items per customer requests using proper equipment, offering product samples to enhance customer discovery, and informing customers of specials to promote sales. The Grocery Clerk will also ensure the freshness and proper portion sizes of products to minimize shrink, recommend suitable items to customers, and adhere to food safety guidelines. This role involves managing inventory, checking product quality, maintaining temperature logs for food safety, and reporting any discrepancies or equipment issues to management. An ability to work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment, maintain professionalism, and act with honesty and integrity are essential.

Job Duties
- Prepare bakery and deli items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
- offer product samples to help customers discover new items
- inform customers of bakery and deli specials
- provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
- recommend deli or bakery items to customers
- use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines
- prepare foods following food temperature logs and cooking instructions
- measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipe
- package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise
- check product quality and review sell by dates
- maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs
- label, stock, and inventory department merchandise
- report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to department manager
- respond to customer questions and make product suggestions
- maintain awareness of inventory and stocking conditions
- reinforce safety programs and notify management of unsafe conditions
- practice preventive maintenance on equipment and notify management of repair needs
- report customer or employee accidents
- work cooperatively in high-paced, sometimes stressful environment
