As part of the Kroger family of companies, Smith's embodies a commitment to community, diversity, and customer satisfaction. The company thrives on bringing together passionate teams focused on providing quality food products and exceptional customer service with the mission to 'Feed the Human Spirit.' Known for innovation and an inclusive culture, Smith's Food and Drug offers an energetic and supportive workplace where employees are valued and empowered to succeed.
The bakery department at Smith's is a vibrant hub that enhances the overall customer experience by offering fresh, delicious baked goods crafted with care and attention to detail. We are currently seeking a dedicated Bakery Team Member to join our Salt Lake City store. This role is pivotal in creating outstanding customer experiences by delivering exceptional service and maintaining a safe, clean, and inviting bakery environment. The ideal candidate will assist the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals while ensuring adherence to quality assurance standards and company values such as respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
As a Bakery Team Member, you will be responsible for preparing a wide variety of bakery products, including custom wedding cakes and decorated pastries, using proper bakery equipment. You will greet customers warmly, answer product inquiries, offer samples, and recommend bakery items to help customers find the products that suit their needs. Your role includes maintaining product quality by monitoring freshness, checking sell-by dates, and managing inventory effectively. Additionally, you will participate in merchandising tasks such as labeling, stocking, signing, and inventory control.
Safety and compliance are core to the Smith's culture. You will adhere to all local, state, and federal health regulations and company policies regarding food safety and loss prevention. Your vigilance will help reinforce a safe working environment by identifying and reporting unsafe conditions or equipment issues promptly.

Employees have access to affordable medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage. Flexible scheduling options support both full-time and part-time associates, with paid time off, holiday pay, and sick leave based on eligibility. Our Employee Assistance Program and financial coaching services provide invaluable emotional and financial support. Additionally, Smith's offers substantial tuition reimbursement programs and abundant opportunities for career growth through industry-leading training programs and diverse career paths.
