The Bakery Team Member plays a vital role in maintaining the high standards set by Whole Foods Market. This position involves supporting bakery operations through product receiving, preparation, display maintenance, and ensuring the selling floor reflects the fresh, appealing atmosphere expected by customers. Team members work collaboratively to break down deliveries, stock shelves efficiently, and perform all duties in alignment with the store's Standard Operating Procedures. The role emphasizes customer interaction, requiring a friendly, courteous, and efficient approach to service at all times. Employees are expected to spend significant time on the sales floor engaging with customers, assisting with sampling programs, and supporting overall store initiatives including health, safety, and cleanliness standards. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • able to stand or walk for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday
  • capable of single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • able to perform bending, twisting, squatting and reaching motions
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • able to work in temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • capable of working in wet and dry conditions
  • able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • may require use of ladders
  • able to arrive on time, appropriately groomed and ready to work
  • works all scheduled shifts and attends required trainings and meetings

Job Duties

  • Ensure a fresh and appealing display by keeping cases and shelves clean and well stocked by front-facing, checking codes, rotating and removing out-of-date products
  • stock and clean shelves, bins, and display areas
  • monitor and prevent spoilage and communicate waste to buyers, team leaders, and shift supervisor
  • maintain back stock in good order
  • assist with sampling program, keeping sample areas full, clean and appealing
  • assist with periodic inventory checks
  • arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • provide excellent customer service, address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and model suggestive selling techniques
  • maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • follow and comply, or ensure compliance, with established procedures including weights and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • ensure accuracy of signs and pricing
  • immediately report safety hazards and violations
  • perform other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership
