The Bakery Team Member role at Whole Foods Market is an essential position responsible for the preparation, counter service, and stocking of bakery products including breads, pastries, cakes, and pies. This role requires a passion for quality baking, strong customer service skills, and a dedication to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. Team Members in this position produce artisan breads and pastries, develop new recipes, and ensure proper production planning to meet demand especially during special events and holidays. Working closely with customers and team members on the floor, the candidate will embody Whole Foods Market’s core values and uphold strict compliance with health and sanitation regulations. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • stand or walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour day
  • use hands for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
  • perform motions including bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
  • be exposed to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • work in temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • work in wet and dry conditions
  • work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and heavy machinery
  • may require ladder use

Job Duties

  • Produces quality breads and pastries
  • produces doughs, mixes, cakes, cookies, breakfast pastries, pies, and bars
  • performs baking, cooling, wrapping, and labeling of products
  • stocks dry products
  • develops new recipes and production techniques
  • trains production personnel
  • performs production planning and forecasting for special events and holidays
  • maintains production modules in the Datapax system
  • arrives to work station on time and ready
  • provides excellent customer service and models suggestive selling
  • maximizes sales potential through proper prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising
  • follows and complies with health, sanitation, and safety regulations
  • maintains a clean and sanitary working environment
  • performs opening, mid, and closing duties
  • reports safety hazards
  • performs other assigned duties
