The role offered at Whole Foods Market is a vital one within their bakery department, where the selected candidate will engage in the preparation, counter service, and stocking of baked goods and products. This position encompasses creating artisan breads, pastries, cakes, cookies, breakfast items, pies, and bars. The candidate will be responsible for decorating and finishing cakes and pies with high-quality standards, employing both traditional techniques and innovative recipes. This role requires someone who is passionate about baking and can thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining meticulous cleanliness and adherence to health and safety regulations.

Team Members in this role will have the opportunity to work closely with customers, providing friendly, courteous service while maximizing sales potential through effective merchandising and suggestive selling techniques. The position requires flexibility, as Team Members will perform opening, mid, and closing duties, support special event production planning, and contribute to training efforts for new personnel. The candidate will be expected to utilize basic computer skills to manage production modules using the Datapax system and participate in ongoing training and team meetings.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • standing and walking for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
  • hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • ability to bend, twist, squat and reach
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • exposure to temperatures less than 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), greater than 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • may require use of ladders

Job Duties

  • Produces quality breads and pastries
  • produces doughs, mixes, cakes, cookies, breakfast pastries, pies, and bars
  • performs baking, cooling, wrapping, and labeling of products

  • develops new recipes and production techniques to ensure seasonal variance and high productivity
  • trains production personnel to the highest standards in industry
